Below are some fun facts!
FUN FACTS
- GIFTS FOR BRIDE & GROOM: If you are able to give, we ask you to contribute to our House Fund. Your presence is a gift to us. We know it's the holidays - so please come & celebrate with us. Think not of the presents, but your presence.
- KIDS WELCOMED: Children are welcomed! We will NOT be providing a babysitter for this event, so please keep a close eye on the small ones. The event will be on a residential street, and every now and then cars drive by. Note: a bouncy castle will be provided AFTER the ceremony for the smalls ones in the front yard.
- FOOD & DRINKS: Food and drinks will be provided. It will be family style + serve yourself event. For anyone with food allergies or dietary concerns - please email Rosa.L.Navarrete@gmail.com.
- ENCOURAGED GUEST ATTIRE (NOT OBLIGATED): We're are asking our guests to wear LIGHT BEIGE, LIGHT GREYS, LIGHT COLORS/PASTELS. The event is in the evening and it will help with photography/video. BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE PASTELS/LIGHT COLORS, NO WORRIES! Come because we want to dance with you. Be cozy as it will be a chilly night.
- IF YOU ARE ABLE - BRING A CANDLE FROM HOME: During the ceremony we will be asking our guests to light a candle (a flame will be provided). One candle per family would be great. We'll provide LED lights for young children attending as we do not want them handling fire. Candles will be collected by Channael and Cheyana (bridesmaids) after the dance portion. Note: This lighting will also help us see your faces when we film the event.
- MUSIC & LIGHT DANCING: After the ceremony, the guests will be walked to an area where the bride and groom will dance as husband and wife for the first time. It will be followed by a shared dance with the parents to celebrate the union. There will be music before and after the ceremony, but as it is a Sunday - we want to make sure the music goes down at a reasonable hour.
- NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE: Amos is half Taiwanese! Did you know? His family would really appreciate we respect their culture and keep our shoes outside. For questions: rosa.l.navarrete@gmail.com.
Meet the Bridal Party
The Parents
FATHER OF THE BRIDE: Luis Navarrete
Luis Navarrete calls his daughter by her middle name Lisbeth and by his pet name for her - "Churumpanca" -- which he made up, and no one knows what it means, not even him. He spends his weekdays working Construction in Southern California, and weekends working for the Lord as a Pastor for his church's mission in Mexicali, Mexico. Rosa remembers seeing her first feature film with her dad, Beauty & the Beast, shortly after moving to the states. Mr. Navarrete also introduced his daughters to musicals by showing them West Side Story. He's a mathematician, chess playing, poet at heart. She would not be where she is today, were it not for her papa. He is giving Rosa away & blessing the couple with a prayer during the ceremony. (Photo: Luis and daughter pose with Peruvian flag at a BART Station one their way to UC Berkeley for graduation) |
MOTHER OF THE BRIDE: Rosa Moreno Santoyo
Rosa's mother named her after herself; feminism for life! Rosa's mom loves to sing, take care of her family, and studies at Pierce College in her free time. Rosa Senior has taught her daughter many things in life, but the most important being that she can do anything she sets her mind to with determination and heart. Rosa Senior also gave her daughters the gift of humor inherited by the Moreno bloodline. Rosa Senior took her daughters to the movies almost every weekend. This is where Rosa Junior found her love for filmmaking and writing. Rosa Senior is a contagious, loving, hilarious, storyteller - with the biggest heart around. Rosa Senior's strength goes beyond comprehension, where God breathes life to miracles. Rosa Moreno Santoyo will be walking down the aisle with her husband, Mauro Antonio Santoyo during the ceremony. FATHER OF THE GROOM: Paul Cass
Mr. Paul Cass is Amos' Papa. He comes from Toronto, Canada but has lived in the states for most of his adult life. Paul is the eldest of three brothers and they sound like a band -- PAUL, DAVID, CHARLES CASS. Cool, huh? We are so happy that Charles will also be joining us at the wedding - HELLO CHARLES! Mr. Cass was an incredible dad to Amos - teaching Amos to push harder to pursue his goals in life. Always encouraging Amos to try his best, especially in sports. Amos was part of a hockey team from a wee boy - all through his college days in Minnesota. Paul is a lawyer in the Los Angeles area. He helps keep families together, defending those who are in need, and giving counsil to any who seek it. Sarcasm and skeptical humor comes from this side fo the family. Amos has it in spades! Thank you Cass family for letting us have our wedding in your beautiful home. We are so appreciative of everything you have done for both Rosa and Amos. Paul will be walking down the aisle arm in arm with his wife, Eva. (Photo: Mr. Paul Cass taking his first selfie in the comfort of his home, Eva looks over the shoulder) |
MOTHER OF THE GROOM: Eva Cass
Mrs. Eva Cass is Amos' Mama. Eva has roots in Taiwan. Eva is an incredible cook; she's always making a feast for her family and guests. She's a generous soul who donates to Rosa's father's Mission in Mexicali constantly. The fruit in her orange tree have ended up in many dinner tables all over SoCal. Eva loves to share; she has given Rosa some of her her hippest vintage outfits right from her closet. Another cool fact about Eva is that she loves to sing! She belongs to a choir that has toured all over the world. Her adventurous spirit, her family values, and her sense of style have made two wonderful young boys turn into great men. Men who are selfless, and who constantly think about others over their needs. Eva is a loving mother to Aaron and Amos, and a wonderful grandmother to little Elie Cass. She will be walking down the aisle with her husband, Paul, after Amos. (Photo: Paul and Eva pose for their son's, Fire-Paramedic Aaron Cass, Leadership Course Graduation. Elie is pretty in pink!) |
The Cuties in the Wedding
HONORARY BRIDESMAID: Marissa Bell
Marissa is one of the newest members of the Navarrete-Broy-Hannah-Bell family members. Yeah, there are a lot of us. She just celebrated her first year on this earth, and we could not be happier that she will be blessing our promenade with her presence. She will be in the arms of her Mother, Channael Hannah and Nina, Cheyana Hannah. We love you Marissa! You're so cute in your Alice in Wonderland outfit. Tell all the guests: it's time for tea under the stars! |
FLOWER DUDES: Josias & Cayden Wang
These cuties hail from Irvine and are the children of Amos' cousin Caroline and her husband Justin Wang. Rosa and Amos have watched these two boys grow up; Rosa remembers holding Josias in her arms when he was just a toddler! Time flies y'alls. Now they're drinking bobba and playing tennis. Ugh! So cute. Thank you Caroline for letting your boys be part of the ceremony. It's going to be extra special thanks their participation as our Flower Dudes! |
RING BEARER: Elie Cass
Amos' niece and cutie pie with an attitude. Elie Cass is strong, independent, and loves to argue. We wouldn't have it any other way! Her grandpa (Amos' dad) is a lawyer after all. A huge thank you to her papas Aaron and mama Candy for letting us have her as part of our special day. Elie will be standing with the groomsmen beside her papa, and holding Rosa's ring. In this picture, Elie wears Rosa's engagement ring...like a boss. |
RING BEARER: Daniel Bell
This little treasure hails from the Hannah home. His mommy is Channael Hannah and daddy is Brenden Bell. Daniel is our second Ring Bearer and will be standing with the bridesmaids during the ceremony, holding Amos' ring. We are elated to have such a little gentlemen in our cohort. Thank you Daniel for being part of our ceremony! |
The Ring Bearer Guardians
RING BEARER GUARDIANS: Anna Nguyenbach & Aaron Cass
Anna and Aaron are a wonderful couple and our family. Aaron and Anna will be helping us guide the ring bearers to their destinations at the alter. Aaron is serving both as Best Man and Ring Bearer Guardian; his daughter Elie will be holding Rosa's ring during the ceremony. Thank you for helping us you two! We are so fortunate to have beautiful people with generous hearts in our midst. |
Las Ladies de la Boda
MAID OF HONOR : Jaqueline Navarrete
circa 1985, maid of honor and sister of the bride. If you are looking for the best MANA ever, here she is. Jackie has the kindest and most generous soul on the PLANET! On a weekend, you may find Jackie hiking the California trails, eating pancakes by a roadside diner, reading a book, or chillin' at an art gallery. One of Rosa's favorite memories of her sister is back when they were wee little girls. One day Jackie decided she wanted to ride their giant plush unicorn down a flight of stairs. While no parent was watching, Rosa complies - bringing out their large puffy unicorn toward the long stairway. The young girls leap on the unicorn, and they proceed to ride it all the way to the bottom of the steps. They leap from the stuffed animal in joyous celebration, until little Jackie notices a trail of white stuffing down the steps. The sisters had ripped open the unicorn's belly on their way down. The next few minutes was Rosa consoling her little sister, at the apparent murder of their favorite new large toy. Oh, unicorns! (Photo: Jackie enjoys pancakes, one of her guilty pleasures) |
BRIDESMAID : Jessica Broy-Lucente
Jessica is Rosa Lisbeth's cousin. She was the wise older cousin who gave Liz all the tips on make-up, wardrobe, and introduced her to R&B music via 90's Mariah Carey; "Always Be My Baby" was a favorite. One of Rosa's favorite memories with Jessica is seeing her and her big brother Fernando hug it out during a Christmas celebration in the 90's. Being a little girl, Rosa remembers thinking how special it is to have siblings and the love of family after seeing the two embrace. Jessica has two beautiful children named Gianni and Jehvee and a loving husband named Vito. This event would not be the same without her presence and guidance. Thank you Jessy for making us laugh! (Photo: Jessica and her eldest daughter Jehvee) |
BRIDESMAID : Channael Hannah
Channael is Rosa Lisbeth's 2nd cousin. They grew up together along with their other sisters and they lovingly call each other "manas" short for hermanas. One of Rosa's favorite memories is of Channael asking Rosa to tell her and her Girl Sout friends a scary story before bed at a Big Bear Camping Trip. Rosa retells a "SIGHTINGS" story and mixes it with an "X-FILES" episode; making all the girls scream in the bedroom and giving all of them a sleepless night. Another beautiful memory is seeing Channael with Daniel for the first time; he was a little bundle in her arms. How time flies! Now Channael is a mom of TWO babies! Daniel and baby Marissa Bell. Daniel will be one of our Ring Bearers and little Marissa will be an honorary bridesmaid for the event; she will be walking down the aisle with her mommy. Thank you Channael for helping us focus during Bridesmaid meetings and asking necessary questions. Love your leadership! |
BRIDESMAID : Cheyana Hannah
SURPRISE! We have twins at the wedding. That's how Amos and Rosa party. Cheyana and Channael are twinsies. These ladies alongside their other primas have seen many adventures together. From make believe games in the pool, to late night parties - they've been through A LOT. One of Rosa's favorite memories of Cheyana is going to Vegas with her and her sister for their 21st Birthday. They ate so much yummy food, saw the cool fountain show, and fist pumped their way through clubs and bars. Another cool memory comes from when they were little girls - Cheyana stood by the fireplace and gracefully showed both Rosa and Jackie how gracefully she can do the splits. Cheyana and her sister are on their way to becoming incredible Nurses in the State of California, keep an eye out for the Hannahs! They are going places. Thank you Cheyana-Banana for being part of the ceremony. The primas all together make a power team. |
BRIDESMAID : Jessica Lynn Hannah
She is lovingly called "Baby Jessica" by the primas, as she was named after her auntie Jessica Broy-Lucente. Baby Jessica is a Temple City reina with flare for days. She keeps it "lit" as the kids say nowadays ... thankfully, she keeps the older primas hip by updating us with this kind of terminology. Rosa began calling Baby Jessica "Mini-Me" when she realized that Baby Jess also had a fascination with Theater, Movement, and Singing. If it weren't for Baby Jessica, we'd all be lost. Puffylump is an entrepreneur in the making and will show you a thing or two about style, management, and production. She keeps us on our toes, tells us how it is, and has the best rules of engagement. Adelante mujeres! |
BRIDESMAID : Kimi Linares
A party is not a party until Kimi comes along. She is the light at the end of the tunnel, a funny bone waiting to be tickled, and the fairy on top of your XMAS Tree. Growing up with Kimi helped Rosa assimilate and learn about American culture, through Disney songs, toys like "Polly Pockets," and exotic pets - like ferrets. There was never a dull moment with this one. Kimi would like to share this story: "In fact, I remember one time you and Jackie slept over my house when we were little, and you made me laugh so hard I shot rice out of my nose…" ...oh Kimi! We love you. (Photo Left to Right: Rosa, Jackie, La Kimi - Halloween 2016) |
Los Gents de la Boda
THE BEST MAN: AARON CASS
Aaron is Amos' big brother and our Best Man. The brothers have been through a lot: from summers in Taiwan, to being on the same hockey team as youngsters, to seeing their father go through a mustache phase. Though born here, Aaron and Amos hold dear their families' roots in both Canada and Taiwan. Aaron is a FireParamedic, a father, and an all around great guy. You may find him hosting yummy dinner party for his neighbors, or enjoying the sun outdoors with his daughter Elie and his love, Anna. Amos and Rosa have often enjoyed coming over to the Cass Home for some of his grub. Aaron is a skilled conversationalist, and his sar-CASS-asm is quite epic. You will never be bored with this guy! Thank you Aaron for inviting us into your home so many times. We look forward to celebrating with you, Ana, little Elie, your parents and all the family present. Many blessings to you and yours! |
GROOMSMEN & OFFICIANT: John Klopping
John has been lucky to witness Amos and Rosa’s development from the very beginning. From the introduction, to the Friendship and to the relationship they’ve built together today. He couldn’t be prouder and happier for the both of them. They’ve shown remarkable Love, Commitment and patience for each other throughout this journey. Little known fact, John is also probably the only person to have taken Dance classes with both Amos and Rosa; which is probably why they asked him to officiate the ceremony. We love you John! |
GROOMSMEN: Joseph Santoyo
Rosa's little brother is going to be one of Amos' groomsmen! Joe is a gamer who loves to play basketball in his free time. He was born with international blood: with his parents being from Morelia, Mexico and Lima, Perú. Joe has travelled to both countries, and loves to eat their food. From street tacos in Morelia, to Tallarin Verde with Papa A La Huancaina in Perú. We are so glad Joseph has agreed to be one of our groomsmen, as he has seen Amos and Rosa's relationship grow from a friendship to a full fledge relatinoship since he was 7 years old. What a trip. Love you BROTHER! Glad you will be part of the wedding. (Photo: Joseph in Machu Picchu 2015) |
GROOMSMEN: Stuart Morishige
Stuart has known Rosa & Amos for several years and has been there ever since happy couple first started dating! When he's not giving Amos a hard time, Stuart can be found cutting a rug at the local dance halls in Pasadena. Thank you Stuart for being part of the ceremony, the event would not be the same without you. You are our favorite Stuart. Love you! |
GROOMSMEN: Matthew L.
Matthew is Elie's big brother and wonderful company to have over for dinner. Rosa and Amos have seen this young man since he was just a wee lad, and my how he's grown! He's even been to Paris for a school trip, which was impressed him thoroughly. The ceremony will be blessed the more with Matthew's company. So glad you can be part of our union, Matt, big hugs and until this Sunday! God speed. <3 |
The Candle Lighters
MOTHER & SON: Maria & Alan Navarrete
Maria Lurdes and Alan Navarrete are Rosa's extended family on her father's side -- stepmother and stepbrother. Alongside Rosa's father, Both Maria Lurdes and Alan work hard with the youth and community at the mission in Mexicali, Mexico. Alan and Maria Lurdes will be lighting the candles for our guests at 6:50pm before the ceremony begins. The flame will symbolize our union as a new family together. Thank you Maria Lurdes and Alan for being part of our wedding. We could not have done it without you! |
